Meet Melissa,

Kinesiologist & Founder of HomeStretch Active Living

“We all want our parents and grandparents to age safely and comfortably in their own homes. Not just live longer, but live better.

As a Kinesiologist, I’ve learned that “aging well” requires movement: frequent, consistent movement that builds strength, balance, and confidence. And sometimes, it takes someone energetic and encouraging to come in, guide the movements, and make it feel achievable.

I created HomeStretch three years ago in Vancouver, BC after seeing firsthand how many older adults needed more support to stay active and confident while aging at home.

I began by teaching exercise classes and training clients in retirement homes and quickly realized there was a gap for a kinesiology-led service. Kinesiology goes beyond personal training — it focuses on safe movement, proper form, and recovery from long-standing injuries.

As demand grew, I began bringing on other kinesiologists who shared my philosophy and passion for working with older adults. I’ve hand-selected each Kinesiologist on my BC and Ontario team and continue to expand as more families look for trusted, professional support.

My mission is simple: helping older adults stay strong, independent, and confident in their own homes.

Our Core Services

In-Home Services

We bring expert movement support directly to your door.

Our in-home personal trainer for seniors model is built around one promise: you get a registered kinesiologist who comes to your home, understands your health history, and designs a program tailored to your body- not a generic workout.

Every session is 1:1, entirely personalized, and focused on what matters most as you age: building strength, improving mobility, and maintaining independence. Unlike a traditional in home personal trainer, our kinesiologists specialize in aging bodies, arthritis, joint replacements, balance challenges, and post-surgery recovery.

We start with a thorough assessment of your balance, mobility, and fall risk. From there, your kinesiologist builds a plan that’s realistic, safe, and built around your daily life- whether that’s getting up and down more easily, walking confidently outdoors, improving reaction time, or reducing stiffness and pain.

Community Workshops

We’re proud to offer workshops for seniors that bring engaging education, confidence, and movement into community spaces across Ontario.

Our signature community workshop- the Brain & Balance Series- helps older adults learn how the body’s balance systems work, why walking speed matters, and what practical steps they can take to stay independent. Each session blends fun, social connection, and hands-on movement so participants can practice new skills safely and confidently.

Led by a registered kinesiologist, our community sessions make evidence-based learning accessible for all fitness levels. We cover essential topics like fall prevention for seniors, strength training, mobility, dual-tasking, reaction time, and how to train the brain and body to work together. These workshops support retirement homes, Legions, community centres, and senior-living organizations looking to enhance wellness programming. Whether delivered as a one-time seminar or a multi-week course, our workshops help older adults stay active, informed, and connected.
